Word has it that 3 big players in entertainment, Sony, Discovery Entertainment and IMAX are working together to create a 3D-Only Channel to hit the airwaves soon.  Content will range from 3D films to documentaries.   Initial reports suggest that some of the first content will be a mixture of items filmed in native stereoscopic format and existing material converted from 2D.    This is an important first step to mass adoption, just as the first few token “HD” stations made there way into the public eye a decade ago.   Building on the successful formula for HD Adoption, this new venture should help to usher in the new era of 3D TV at home.  As 3D Home Theater nuts, we all have something to look forward to and wish Sony, IMAX and Discovery the best.
