Betting on new technologies isn’t something Sony has shied away from in the past.They’ve been wrong before when it bet on Betamax and on the mini disk—but also succeeded with the Playstation game system and Blu-Ray format. If Sony is going to see the success they’re hoping for, they’re going to need an Avatar moment to show off what the technology can do, why viewers should feel like they need it, and how it can make money.
