Will 3D change how we look at television?






This weekend, football fans will be able to watch Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Manchester United in 3D at nine specially selected pubs around the country.

Gerry O’Sullivan, Sky’s director of strategic product development, claimed the screening will be a “really historic day for television”.

Next week’s rugby clash between England and Wales is due to be screened in 3D at 40 cinemas across the UK, and Sky’s rival ESPN has already announced it will screen this summer’s football World Cup in 3D.

Meanwhile, the success of Avatar, which has now become the biggest grossing film of all time, is leading many to predict a massive surge in the popularity of the format.
